There are other groups in the country called Lydian Singers (or Choir) - please don't confuse us!
We are a choir of around 12-15 singers who
live in Sheffield, UK, and meet primarily to sing and explore the
repertoire for our own interest, and give a few
concerts
every year for charity or other events, when we can do so.
Our repertoire is largely of early and late part-songs - anything singable, madrigals, motets, modern songs, and so-forth. We have a recent history of performing new works, or those not widely established. Examples are the compositions and arrangements of John Kilpatrick, the late Percy Snowdon, and the late John Earwaker, all from Sheffield, though we do look further afield as well!
For the last few years we have given a joint
concert in June or early July at St Peter's Church, Hope, in Wakes Week ; first with the Folds Wind Quintet, then
the Mayfield Wind
Octet, and most recently with the Caccia Wind Quintet.
