Lydian Singers: 15th March 2007
We had two weeks' notice to fill a vacancy left by a choir that pulled out of an engagement, at Hatfield House Lane Methodist Church, and we shared this opportunity with Loxley Silver Band. We had no time for a specific rehearsal, so picked a program from repertoire.
First Half (after the Silver Band)
1. Henry VIII: Pastime with good company
2. Madrigals
- See what a maze of error
- April is in my mistress' face
- Mother I will have a husband
3. Elgar
- As torrents in summer
- My love dwelt in a northern land
4. Modern Songs
- Tea for two
- Over the rainbow
Second Half (before the Silver Band)
5. Nicolai Kedrov: Otche nash (the Lord's Prayer in Church Slavonic)
6. 8-part pieces:
- Schütz: Jauchzet dem Herrn (in two choirs)
- Pearsall: Lay a garland (in one choir).
7. Folk Songs:
- Matyas Seiber: Hungarian Folk Songs
- Vaughan Williams: The lover's ghost
